TEI Metadata for an 8-volume copy of the Macklin Bible in the collection of the John Rylands Library, University of Manchester (11819)

Abstract

• Volumes 1-7 contain: The Holy Bible : embellished with engravings from pictures and designs by the most eminent English artists (London: printed by Thomas Bensley for Thomas Macklin, 1800). Volume 8 contains: The Apocrypha : embellished with engravings from pictures and designs by the most eminent English artists (London: printed by Thomas Bensley for Cadell & Davies, 1816). The 8 XML files contain the TEI metadata for each volume by Naomi Billingsley. The XML files here contain the researcher-authored metadata for the volumes, which includes a description of the edition of the Bible and a list of the illustrations (with individual publication information) in each volume. The research was funded by a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship, ECF2016787. These metadata files were written for a digital edition of this Bible as part of a collection of Bible Illustrations for Manchester Digital Collections, published in May 2020. The published metadata includes additional strings, including manifest for the images. The published metadata can be downloaded from the individual items on Manchester Digital Collections via the links below. The files available here are the researcher metadata version 2 (December 2020), which include minor corrections to the published metadata).
