Item type:Book chapter, National Life Stories(2024)Morgan, CharlieNational Life Stories (NLS) is an oral history fieldwork charity based in the oral history department of the British Library (BL). NLS runs its own projects but also serves as an archival partner for numerous others; combined, this creates one of the largest oral history collections in the world. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, all oral histories were conducted in person, and the process of accessioning new interviews relied on face-to-face contact. Soon after the first lockdown in March 2020, we [as NLS and the British Library oral history team and following UK-wide advice from the Oral History Society (OHS)] suspended all face-to-face oral history interviews.5 2
