Abstract
The Mercury Gazette was printed in Bridgetown, Barbados, between 1762 - 1848 (or possibly up to 1864). It continued as the Barbados Mercury and Bridgetown Gazette from c 1805.
These newspapers were digitised by the Barbados Department of Archives as part of a project funded by the British Library's Endangered Archives Programme. These images have been available on the EAP website since 2019: https://eap.bl.uk/collection/EAP1086-1
In 2021 these images went through OCR processing by FindMyPast. As part of the OCR process, the borders of the original digitised images were cropped. This dataset contains these cropped copies of the digitised newspapers. These images correspond with the OCR dataset, which will also be made available here. These images also correspond with the results of a crowdsourcing project, which includes image coordinate data that map to these cropped images.
