Abstract
This dataset comprises approx. 650 records relating to mainly early printed books (and some manuscripts) in the British Library that have bookbindings from Germany or German influenced or speaking regions. Most were bound from 15c to 17c. Workshops have been identified using standard online and printed resources (see separate document titled Resources used: https://bl.oar.bl.uk/concern/datasets/da95a80b-a051-459f-9913-9d0c7424e6b0?locale=en ). The numbering system from Einbanddatenbank has been used to list binders and motifs, though other works are also quoted (mainly Kyriss and Schwenke/Schunke). This is a work in progress and the attributions should be checked before being quoted in research. The set will be amended and added to when possible.
