Abstract
The Knowledge Matters Strategy of the British Library is to make our intellectual heritage accessible to everyone, for research, inspiration and enjoyment. An important element of this heritage is the research output of staff of the British Library. Therefore, the aim of this policy is to ensure the wider dissemination and long-term preservation of research outputs produced by British Library staff. This will improve discoverability and in turn raise the research profile of the British Library.
This update to the original policy, published in 2019, enables the British Library to align with other UK research institutions and funders who have implemented open access policies, renews our commitment to wider accessibility and better sharing of British Library research, and situates open access in the wider landscape of open research.
