Abstract
Malorie was the first Black writer to be appointed as Children's Laureate and her books, encompassing science fiction and gripping adventures, shine a light on different ways of seeing the world. The curators explain how Malorie defied expectations to become a literary icon and, at the same time a trailblazer for inclusivity and representation in publishing.
Key items include the original synopses of the landmark series, Noughts & Crosses, artwork from Malorie’s novels, the work of some of her biggest inspirations, as well as that of authors who have been influenced by her.
