This talk explores recent work by the Materialising Open Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences (MORPHSS) project to document and theorise open research practices across the arts, humanities and social sciences (AHSS) - practices that are often neglected or overlooked within mainstream accounts of Open Science. In particular, we focus here on those practices relating to diverse research outputs, highlighting the range of materials and processes "opened up" by researchers in AHSS and positioning these within the typology of six forms of openness the MORPHSS project identifies across these disciplines. Regulatory and evaluatory frameworks around open research - whether at the level of funders, institutions, publishers and more - must, we suggest, adopt more flexible and inclusive approaches in order to achieve operationalisations of 'openness' that no longer marginalise and disadvantage AHSS researchers, including those using creative and participatory methodologies.
