Artists’ books – any books – are capable of sound, whether dropped, as in Keith Godard’s otherwise text-less and image-less Sounds (1972), or, fluttering noisily, drying out, in the chill spring wind, on the monastery roof in Sergo Paradjanov’s film, The Colour of Pomegranates (1969).
