Abstract
The British Library partnered with Klokan Technologies to customise the Georeferencer application for crowdsourcing of spatial metadata capture for two of its most important collections of historic mapping of Britain. This effort built upon previous work in online georeferencing and developments in metadata uses with geographical interfaces in libraries. The authors describe the project and the customised, new release of Georeferencer, with the results and benefits such a project may yield for both cartographic researchers and holding institutions.
