Abstract
This webinar introduces ARK (Archival Resource Key) persistent identifiers. As non-paywalled PIDs (persistent identifiers, permalinks) for information objects of any kind, ARKs support durable web addresses (e.g., that don’t return 404 Page Not Found). Since 2001, 8.2 billion ARKs have been created by over 1400 organizations — libraries, data centers, publishers, archives, museums, and government agencies. With highly flexible metadata, citation-friendly ARKs are linked-data-ready and identify anything digital, physical, or abstract. In 2018, multiple organizations partnered to form the ARK Alliance in order to sustain the ARK infrastructure and guide its future.
