Abstract
This document aims to establish the scope of a thematic website collection initiated as part of the wider work the UK Web Archive undertakes to document political events in the UK. This collection was given the title ‘UK General Election 2017’. The 2017 UK General Election was held on 8 June 2017 to elect Members of Parliament (MPs) to the House of Commons. It was a snap election, called unexpectedly by the Prime Minister Theresa May, who sought a stronger mandate to negotiate the UK’s exit from the European Union (Brexit).
