Abstract
This presentation includes a brief introduction to UKRN’s Special interest Group in Arts Research (SiG Art). SiG ART is a growing community of research practitioners and professional services staff involved in arts and interdisciplinary research across the UK. In arts research, knowledge is often embedded in process, interpretation, and storytelling, elements that have remained under-recognised in mainstream Open Science Research frameworks. We provide a space to share best practice, discuss challenges, and explore approaches to Open Research in a landscape often shaped by the sciences and so-called ‘traditional research outputs’. The presentation reflects on our activities over the past 12 months and beyond. We conclude by suggesting that arts research practices offer Open Research approaches that are relevant across disciplines, including STEM. The arts can thus actively contribute to shaping Open Research practices. We invite the audience to engage with us and contribute to this ongoing process.
