London Open Science & Scholarship Festival 2026: Open Research: the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Perspective

Researchers in the arts, humanities and social sciences create and/or collect a range of diverse processes and outputs, including so-called ‘traditional’ and ‘non-traditional’ research outputs (NTRO). The latter is often the main mechanism for sharing in some disciplines who use creative practice methods. In the first half of this session we will hear from two teams considering open research practices in the arts, humanities and social sciences; and from the team leading a national project to inform more inclusive research evaluation practices, and who are thinking about how these ‘NTRO-centric’ disciplines can inform this work. In the second half of the session we will hear from some of AHRC’s infrastructure for Digital Arts and Humanities (iDAH) data services and programmes about how they are supporting and enabling researchers to share their research data.

    This presentation will introduce Enact - a project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council to establish a data service for practice research - a bit about our history and how our approaches have been informed by two previous scoping project and the potential benefits for open research across disciplines, introduce the team and our plans in the coming months.
