Abstract
I was discussing with a friend the problems I was having in introducing my topic or theme. The friend in question is one of the artists who has been working on the film which I will show later. He had read through my text, which was, I thought, mainly finished, and had written down a number of key-words and phrases in order to make clear for himself the thread of the argument - or, more appropriately -“narrative”. I found his list very helpful and decided it would make a better introduction than any I had thus far arrived at, so here it is.

Additional information
Presentation given at a conference organised by the British Council, and described as "'Rockin Momma' a performance-lecture" in the accompanying booklet. The presentation included a short film, a filmed performance by a rap artist of the text (also shown as Cyrillic subtitling) against an edited background of British newsreel footage and also shots from films by the Ukrainian silent film director Aleksandr Dovzhenko.
