More light on sixteenth-century printing at Salamanca

1976

Abstract

No history of printing at Salamanca has yet been written. This may be partly due to the difficulties surrounding two of the principal incunable presses in the city, both of which are anonymous. In the first half of the sixteenth century, however, there are some extremely interesting links between one press at Salamanca and another, and they are links which need to be closely investigated. Almost twenty years ago I published a short article on this subject, but it was an article which suffered from the disadvantage of being illustrated.^ The present notes are an extension of the same theme, and while they are in no way exhaustive, they do at least add something to our knowledge of printing at Salamanca between 1500 and 1550.
