The Liverpool-based Northern Daily Times (1853-1861, with two changes of title) was the first provincial daily newspaper in England to enjoy a sustained run. It was also one of the very first one penny dailies.
The Star (1788-1831, dataset 1801-1831) was the first daily London evening newspaper. Its circulation was facilitated by the success of the mail-coach service.
