The Eccles Institute builds, curates and preserves the British Library's rich collection of materials relating to the Americas and Oceania and champions knowledge and understanding of these regions through its wide-ranging fellowships and awards, cultural events, research training, programmes for schools, and guides to the collections.
The Institute’s collection guides come in two different formats:
- long-form bibliographic guides that provide an in-depth or even a comprehensive listing of particular holdings
- short finding aids which provide a ‘taster’ or brief overview of the kinds of materials held by the British Library on a particular subject; please note that these finding aids are a new venture for the Institute and many more titles will be added in the coming months and years
