Abstract
The British Library holds a diverse range of manuscripts and handwritten documents in French, covering a wide variety of subject matter from across the Francophone world. This guide provides a general overview of French manuscript material created between 1600 and around 1950. The collection is particularly rich in sources for political and diplomatic history, including Royal history, the French Revolution, and the Napoleonic era, as well as in literary and scientific manuscripts from across the centuries.
